Grand Finale of Single Mommy-dom

No pictures here, just an update on being a single mom. We closed it out with a grand finale!

Night 3 - Emma-Grace's sleep schedule was slightly off, but nothing too dramatic.

Day 4/evening 4 - Ken was getting home very late, so I still had to do the night time routine. By now Anna was sick of me and had a major melt down when it was time to get ready for bed, even though I was going to let her sleep in my bed. So I calmed her down and got her settled. However, Emma-Grace was way overdue to eat and I was way overdue to pump (breast milk). So I come up with the plan to put Emma-Grace in her bouncer chair and I can feed her a bottle and pump at the same time. Great plan. I use the Playtex bottles with the plastic liners in them. I started to feed her then she wanted to stop. So I put the bottle down... I am sitting next to her hooked up to my pump. She decides that she is till hungry, so I pick up the bottle and for some reason the liner and all 4 ounces of priceless breast milk fall right out of the bottom of the bottle, all over me, the carpet and part of my bed. Emma-Grace must have caught the sent because she started to scream hysterically. Now, soaking in milk, I try to clean it up, but need to run downstairs to get more towels. I turn off the pump and go downstairs only to discover the biggest and blackest spider on the kitchen ceiling. It was at least an inch in diameter and fat! Being absolutely terrified of spiders, I instantly start to pass out. In the haze of passing out I realize that if I pass out on the floor, there is a good chance that the spider will come off the ceiling and crawl on me and possibly eat me... never mind the safety of my hungry 5 week old and p'd off 3 year old. So I force my self to "man up" and try to figure out what to do. I get shoes on and our canister vacuum. I suck up the spider in the vacuum and let the vacuum run for 5 mins just to be sure the monster is really in the vacuum and not hanging out in the hose, able to jump out and attack me. Of course, since the spider my still be alive, I take the canister vacuum out side and leave it in the garage for Ken to deal with. I collect a hungry Emma-Grace get a new bottle going, curse the other bottle, and feed her. Ken came home safe and sound and took over Emma-Grace's night time feeding for me... thanks honey!

Single (and slightly crazy) Mommy with a 3 year old and a 5 week old

Us girls are on day three, night three of Daddy being out of town. We are faring very good other than some silly things that I have done. Here is a break down of our adventures with just us girls...

Day 1 - hopefully will be the most exciting day... Within 10 mins of Ken leaving, Anna had a #2 accident (awesome). Within an hour after that, Emma-Grace had an enormous explosive diaper that went everywhere (sweet). I cleaned her up and decided that after Anna's bath, Emma-Grace would get a bath. After Anna's bath, it is feeding time for Emma-Grace, which shortly after completion, 4 of the 4.5 ounces Emma-Grace ate come back up through her mouth and nose all over me and her (so much fun). So I decide to take a shower. By the time I am done, Emma-Grace is sleeping so we forego the bath. I go to bed. Emma-Grace wakes up at 2 am to eat and she has peed out of her diaper all over her bassinet (super awesome).

Day 2 - Emma-Grace screams for 3 hours in the evening (loving it)

Day 3 - Garbage day. I take a bag of batteries outside to put in recycling. Garbage comes and takes the recycling. Grammy comes over and goes to put some outgoing letters in my mail box only to find the bag of batteries in the mail box and not in the recycling bins... it probably wouldn't have been a good thing for the post man to find a bunch of dead batteries in the mail box. I am sure that is breaking some sort of federal law... I can't believe I put the dead batteries in the mail box...So now, Emma-Grace has been sleeping since 5:00pm and it is now 8:30 pm and won't wake up, so I am sure she will be up all night.

All in all we are having fun. I have lots of help from my parents, but of course none of the crazy stuff happens when help is here! But in the end, it is all worth it when I look at my cutie pies... All stress instantly disappears.

We had movie night this weekend with popcorn, PJs and everything. It was also Ken's birthday, and Anna got him the movie Enchanted... Here is Ken with his girls.

Also, when Anna sits, she sits with her legs straight out, toes pointed and her hands laid straight in her lap. I am not sure why she does this.

Tinker Bell and her "Bum"

Every day, I style Anna's hair in the style of a Disney princess. She came up with this naming system. For instance, a ponytail low at her neck is Cinderella, pig tail braids is Cinderella as well (from when she wakes up at the beginning of the movie), a half pony tail is Belle (Beauty and the Beast), long is Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and a headband with a ponytail and three rubberbands down it is Jasmine (Aladdin). So yesterday morning Anna came upstairs with her Tinker Bell dress on and wanted her hair like Tinker Bell, which is a bun on the top of her head. But Anna calls is a "bum". She can't distinguish between M's and N's.

Emma-Grace was around too! She was in charge of holding the garage door opener!

I thought it would be fun to compare how Anna and Emma-Grace looked at the same age. So I dressed Emma-Grace in the same outfit and tried to get similar pics.

Aside from the TON of hair that Anna had and Emma-Grace's serious baby baldness and extreme bug-eyes, I think they look pretty similar. Either way, they are both adoreable! And, pardon the red-eye. There was a time when I had a few extra minutes to spare to fix it, but now we are a little busy! Ha!

Moody 3 year old, 90 miles an hour and a 4 week old

We are getting in to the swing of things... the girls haven't caught on yet that they out number me when Ken is at work, so I am still ruler of the castle! Here are some pics of my girls. I didn't have time to remove red eye and stuff, so sorry about that!

I think this is Emma-Grace's first smile... I didn't hear any gas during its occurance and it wasn't the product of any bodily function as she was naked at the time of the smile...

The Many moods of Anna... Ken's mom bought Anna a new outfit the other week and Anna agreed to wear it, which is a big feat since she is very picky about what she wears. So I thought I would get a nice picture of her in the outfit. Unfortunately in a matter of 67.5 seconds we experienced all the facets of a complex almost 3 year old... I caught it on film for you to enjoy.

We started off in the living room... which she was happy about. I thought to my self, "self, lets go outside in the front yard and get a nicer picture of Anna with all the flowers."

Anna didn't think that was a very good idea. Expecially since I didn't want to include her Ariel picture with her.

No smiles, so Ken decided to take her in the back yard to see if we could get some smiles of her in her extra cute outfit... no deal.

At this point we gave up on getting a nice picture of Anna outside in her super cute outfit... but she suprised us, and the smiles came out when she was in her swingset castle. So it all ended well.

This was too funny, Anna was flying down the slide at 90 mph this weekend. She landed on her face a couple of times before she got the hang of keep running after she got to the bottom!

Anna is really a very good kid, but I just think that these crabby pictures and video are so funny. So here is another crabby video of Anna. Despite all the pics, she is happy and loveable about 95% of the time, which is pretty good for a soon to be three year old!

Awake Emma-Grace and Long Hair

Many of you might think that a baby who sleeps is a good thing... well, it isn't as good as it sounds. Emma-Grace sleeps too much! She wasn't waking up to eat so we had to set our alarms to wake her up! She was loosing too much weight because she would sleep 23 hours a day if we didn't wake her up. So that was a bit exhausting. But now that she is getting a little older, she is finally starting to spend some of the day awake. Thankfully, she is a good sleeper at night still (knock on wood) and gaining lots of weight. So I finally got some pics of her awake.

We went to the park last night and Anna experienced the full force of static electricity on the plastric slide! Check out that hair!

Dinner Time Blessing

Here is Anna saying our dinner time blessing. When we start to eat before we pray, she usually catches us and yells "we forgot to pray, silly!" Hopefully you can hear her.
